My father flew the P-47 in England in WW-2 along with the P-38 and P-51D patrolling the English Channel as escorting bomber into Germany. He wasn't trained in Millville, but on Long Island and down in Florida. His name was William H Brockner. (2Lt)

The Chinese Bandit Recon LRRP Team 1st Bn (ABN) 8th Cav 1965-66 was awarded two Presidential Unit Citations for extraordinary heroism for their participation in the Battles of the Ia Drang (November 1965) and Nathan Hale (June 1966); conducted the historic FIRST night combat rappel lead by RANGER Lawson; and performed DOD/MACV directed long range reconnaissance (LRRP) operations lead by 101st RECONDO Grimes along the northern Cambodia and southern Laos borders in the spring of 1966..."Laying Down FIRST Tracks in the Central Highlands".

Hello That is the year the 352nd Figther Squadron trained at Milleville Airbase. We were there about 3 months Feb. toApril. We were assigned to tents to live in , 8 men to a tent. Cold and some snow, but not to bad. I was an Armorer on the P47's.. After the time at Milleville we made ready to go to England, where spent the time from June 1943 , until Nov. 1945..
I recieved a 2 week furlough while at Milleville, Got married March 27, 1943, spent 4 days with my new wife, got called back to Camp, and did not see my wife until Nov.15 1945. Take care, Cheers Cliff

I grew up in Millville,graduating fromm MHS in '66,and never knew of the history of the Millville Airport until last year while attending the AirShow.excellent museum and loads of info on the WWII heroes in the P-47.I'll visit more when home visiting family.Thanks for bringing Millville's history to light.

After all these years Millville airport is still training pilots for homeland security. NYPD pilots train two weeks a month at Millville KMIV, and every one of them think it's ideal for our type of helicopter training.
Thanks to Jeff at BigSky his efforts and service help keep our training on time and on budget.
